problem with watch

problem with watch having just returned to work and got out my watch that i always wear, only to find it is too tight. couldnt figure out why until i measured my wrist and the rest of my right arm and found it was slightly bigger than the left one. i presume this is slight lymphodema as i had most of my lymph glands removed, but not enough to cause me any discomfort. luckily hubby was able to move the pins on the strap and make it bigger so i can wear it, but would not have noticed the swekking had i not been wearing my watch. hope it will not get any worse, as have done my exercises. my body is still swollen where they removed my breast so maybe the swollen arm will go down as my breast area is slowly doing.

yes it sounds like it to me.
i was told to moisterise my arm every night and i do.

  1. start with lotion a hand span away from the shoulder, massage in an upward motion only.
2.move down to elbow and again in an upward motion massage the lotion up to the shoulder.
  2. moving down the arm again, massage in an upwards motion to the shoulder.
    you get the drift.
maybe you should get it looked at and see if you can have some MLD manual lymphatic drainage through the NHS, might be you need a sleeve to help contain it.
sorry didn’t read profile so not sure how lllong ago you had op.
mine was in nov 05 and i have a little oedema on the chest wall after mastectomy. finally getting some MLD but having to pay due to location and not being able to drive to hospital.
    hope you get on ok.

lymphodema i had my first op in oct 2005 then further lymph removal in june 2006 then mast in nov 2006. the swelling is not too bad so i nwill give the moisturisding a try for now. what does it achieve, is it to move the lymph fluid away from the swollen arm and into another part of body, no one had ever suggested this before. the swelling is not causing me any discomfort

Hi ,

Had my op in Nov 06 (mastectomy and completed node clearance), and within three or four weeks I was given details on DIY manual drainage, thought this was standard practice. Had a slight swelling after surgery but, now my arm is back to normal size, perhaps you could ask your lymphodema phisio about these exercises.

Best wishes,

Angela

watch I had lymph clearance in 2001, and my arm has always been slightly puffy, but not swollen, I now wear my watch on the other arm, so if there is any lymphadoema going on it wont be restristred by the watch strap. Maybe changing arm would be better
