Hi
I am seeing my plastic surgeon on Monday to discuss prophalatic mastectomies with diep reconstruction. I had a hysterectomy in December 2010 to reduce risks of Ovarian Cancer and have been researched at Genetics. After a mammogram showed a lump in my breast last month which has to be removed I discussed with Genetics and my consultant the mastectomies with reconstruction. I could really do with some information and help around the procedure etc. I would be having the surgery at Morriston Hospital in Swansea and wondered if anyone else had had the same at this hospital (good or bad)I would be so grateful for any information. Also any idea on the waiting list for NHS, what was the time scale after you saw the PS. Has anyone had the surgery and reconstruction privately (does private insurance companies cover this surgery). I lost my mum to Ovarian Cancer when I ws 12 yrs old, she was 48 and from then on lost most of my aunts who cared for me to Breast Cancer, I have decided this is the best route to go as my youngest is 4yrs and need to see her grow up.
Sorry its first time on this site and have been feeling anxious about everything since they found the lump in my breast, its a papilloma which is good news but needs to be removed. Any info would be brilliant, also im bit worried about the drains after surgery do they hurt when they are taken out? Look forward to any info and thank you.
