I recently had mastectomy for 3 areas of DCIS, one invasive. I do not have any advice for you but can definitely relate to what you are saying. I am on tamoxifen with side effects+++ and am unsure of my risk of DCIS in my other breast. After my experience all I can say is be 110% sure about any decisions you make or they can come back and bite you.

I have just had a prophylactic mastectomy and bi lateral reconstruction after dcis and have no regrets at all.
I was found to have medium grade dcis a year ago and after 2 attempts to get a clear margin was told there was a very low risk of recurrance. Just six months later a new area of dcis was found and I had an immediate mastectomy. Whatever the stats said I felt I was just waiting for it to happen in the other breast and so the surgeon suggested a prophylactic mastectomy and reconstruction at the same time. It was a huge decision but I have to say that from the minute I came round after surgery I just felt relieved that the worry about it coming back had gone.
