Please, please, DON’T feel guilty for “only” having surgery and rads. The very first people who will whoop with delight for you are those of us who’ve had more treatment to go through. I can’t imagine ANYONE who’s had a cancer diagnosis dismissing yours as being less important, less significant, than theirs.
The Look Good Feel Better sessions have people with all sorts of cancer, with or without hair, with or without chemo, with or without mastectomy, and people will honestly be delighted for you if you’ve needed less treatment than they have had. I went to one before my chemo took effect so I still had my hair, there were other ladies who had had chemo and used the cold cap so they had their hair, there were others who hadn’t had chemo at all, and nobody was made to feel anything but very welcome.
Moglie, it sounds like you could really do with some help. Can you speak to your breast care nurse or your GP? If you want to talk to a human voice rather than just typing, give the helpline a ring in the morning. They are brilliant, very knowledgeable and totally non-judgemental, and they may be able to give you some other practical suggstions.

I have had my second operation and will find out at my follow up appointment next week when my radiotherapy starts or whether I need to go under the knife for a 3rd time. I’m truly grateful to just be undergoing rad and not chemo. I count myself lucky.
I’m glad i came across this thread. I will brace myself for radiotherapy not being as easy as I thought psychologically. Here is me thinking i’d be able to pop to the hospital in the morning and slip in an afternoon of work as a school teacher. DOH! i had better re think that one.
Forums are a godsend and were to me when i went through a different major operation 4 years ago. You can come on, rant, ask a question or just ask for help and it will be given to you. I find it soooo much better than having to wait for somebody to call you back because they’re busy. It’s also good to talk to people you have never met. You don’t feel so pressured to be cheery.
Froggy I do hope you feel more upbeat soon. I’m off to have a look at that article now.
Take care all
choccie Muffin - good article!
Moglie - sending huge cyber hugs. You’ve got an added loss to deal with so i’d grab all the help i could get if you go to that class. I hope you don’t feel too bad after your final session now.
