'We’ve got an opportunity to make a difference in LE research, and all it takes is a minute of your time, so PLEASE help. Whether you already have LE or are at risk for it, here’s a way to make a difference in funding important research.
Let me explain: a LE researcher named Mei Fu, from NYU, is interested in showing the importance of LE education for both risk reduction and on-going self-management. The idea is that OUR MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS are supposed to take some ownership in educating their patients about their risk and how to manage it. Which of course means the professionals themselves will be learning about LE. Win/win!

It’s VERY HARD for LE researchers to get funding for their studies. (Why are we not surprised?!) Mei Fu got her funding for this one from the Avon Foundation, but she still needs their help to continue her work. OUR ASSIGNMENT, should we choose to accept it (does anybody else remember “Mission: Impossible”?) is to send an email to the Avon folks thanking them for their interest in LE and encouraging them to continue to fund studies that help us LE patients get the care we need. Of course you may mention you’re a LE patient, and that getting LE information has been difficult, or whatever else you’d like to point out (briefly, of course!)
