I have my appointment at the Breast clinic on Monday. my question is - my period is due and this is making my breasts lumpy. Will they just think I have lumpy breasts? To me the original lump feels very different but I’m a bit concerned that they will just think I’m lumpy and won’t carry out the tests?
i am sure they will be able to feel the difference just be forceful and tell them that your lump is different to your monthly lumps surely they must deal with this alot, they may even say pop back after period for a further examination whatever occurs good luck xxx
Hi LucyC
When I first went to the breast clinic no one actually felt my lump!! I had mammo and then ultra sound and biopsies I then saw the consultant.
I know each clinic is different but I would as Fairyqueen says just be forceful and explain OR If your clinic is like mine you will have the tests first anyway and the mammo / ultra sound will show if anything is amiss.
Very best of luck for your appointment on Monday

Hi Lucy, I was similar to Jill.
I found my lump when washing so went to my GP who confirmed it was there. She referred me to the Breast Clinic. At the clinic I first had a mammogram then an ultrasound, then I went in to see the consultant. It was only at that stage that he examined me and felt the lump, but I’m sure that by then he already knew that it was cancer from looking at the mammogram and ultrasound - it was very clear!
He then took biopsies and I had the results a week later that confirmed it. This was all done in one afternoon as my hospital have a one-stop clinic.
Good luck with your appointment - keeping everything crossed for you.
