For those of you that have had chemo prior to surgery: I have my last FEC scheduled for 6 Dec… how long do they usually wait from last chemo until surgery? I was wondering if the holidays would play a part in my scheduling for surgery? I want to hurry and get it behind me. I asked the last time I had Onc. appt and saw the registrar and she didn’t know, maybe I asked to soon.

About 2/3 through my FEC they began to talk about scheduling the surgery. I suppose they have to know that its all on course etc. Also you could see that my FEC was reducing the tumour so all was going to plan. After the 5th, my oncologist said surgery should be within 1 month of the last chemo. In the end I had it 2.5 weeks after last FEC. Also depends on your health in between chemo`s.
So I suppose longest would be 1 month after 6 Dec, but could be sooner depending on you, your health and the consultants.
Hope this helps. Either way Id say youll be on good form for the holidays because youll have recovered fsome rom the last chemo - Woww. Then maybe even better depending on how you feel about the surgery.
To me I was relieved to have the tumour out - but it really knocks you back (hospital, drains etc) so if I had had the op just before Xmas I wouldnt have been able to enjoy my kids (8months and 3). But it could be a worry waiting over Xmas etc.
Should all be over by 6th Jan whatever !

Thanks Jane… I have had 2 chemo treatments and can tell it has reduced in size. I am anxious to get it out!

I have had 3xFEC and 1xTAX with my last Tax scheduled for 2nd Nov. My Onc and BCN said operation would be 4-6 weeks after the end of chemo. So I am hoping start-to-mid Dec for surgery. Mine has now shrunk almost to the point of it being difficult to find (and from 6cm that it going some!), sounds like yours is going well too. I had an MRI after my FEC finished and saw my Onc, he then contacted the Surgeon, so I have my appt with the surgeon this Monday to discuss ‘options’…hmm not sure I have that many options but anyway!!!
