I have just had seesion 3 out of 4 AC and then will start on Taxotere. I’ve been told that it only takes about an hour to administer…do you also have to have a saline flushe before and after?
I did and it took longer than an hour[about 90 mins]they send it through slowly at first as people can have an allergic reaction to it.Good Luck Vxx
Thank you getting back to me so swiftly - at least it’s better than 5 hours. Mind you if I still have my thinning hair by then I will still be persisting with the cold cap that will lengthen the time a bit.
Mad - I didn’t do cold cap with the fec, but am now just about to have 2nd Tax and my hair is growing back!!! Of course, mostly on my legs and underarms, but the head is definitely fuzzy!!!
Tax is easier to administer, and takes about an hour, yes. I have a hickman line so that’s flushed before & after anyway, but it’s all quicker than the FEC.

Hi madcyclist - hope yr safe on the roads!!!
My Tax is after my other 2 (dox & cyclophosphamide) and it takes about an hour with the flushes - first one does go slower to look out for allergy; you will also probably have steroid - IV if not orally day before day of and day after ( tho I have 7 days this cycle as it all went downhill when steroids stopped last time… I love my onc - he gave me a little extra dose for my birthday so’s I can have a nice spa day too!!
my Onc also said (tho Westie will prove now this is not true!!) the tax = not hair so don’t bother with cold cap - in bristol cold cap isn’t used much though offered if asked as they believe that the chemo should reach the parts other beers don’t reach!!

Thank you everyone…really struggling after last chemo session , so that has cheered me up to think after my next (and last) session of AC, the Tax will be a faster process. Hope the side effects aren’t as bad as those I’m struggling with at the moment.
Hope my hair will start growing again, the same as yours Westside Sue.
