Question re aunts bone sec's

My aunt was dx with BC about 12 yrs before me…she was 50 when dx…she was dx with bone sec’s 15yrs later.
She has been having biophosonate [spelling] infusions every 3 wks…over the past 5 - 6 mths she has not been able to eat very much without feeling full, she has lost a dramatic amount of weight and is now 7st 10lb…last eek she was 7st 12lb…she has another ct scan recently which showed no apparent reason for this and monday she had an endoscopy, at which they said they couldn’t see any cancer in her stomach but the left side was very inflammed so they took 3 biopsies which she will get the results of when she goes for her next treatment in 2 wks.
Has anyone had any experience of this?

Hi Karen

My mum is is a similar situation to your aunt. She has bone mets too but there’s no obvious reason for her weight loss, nausea and loss of appetite. I gather that the bone mets can cause some of these symptoms if there is too much or too little calcium in her blood.but I assume that’s been checked (mum’s levels are fine). My mum has had these symptoms for around 6 months now but she is currently on a low dose of steroids (Dexamethasone) to boost her appetite, Fentanyl patches for the pain and Nozinan for the nausea. This combination is working very well for her and she has felt much better for the past month or so. Her onc told us that stomach mets are quite rare with breast cancer so hopefully the biopsies will be clear and they can treat your aunt’s symptoms.

I hope this helps and that your aunt feels better soon.
