Question re., flying

Question re., flying Quick question, don’t know if anyone will be able to help.
I amgoing on holiday next wed., and am flying, i do not have any signs of lymphodema at mo., but does anyone know wether a cuff/sleeve should be worn when flying anyway [flight time about 3 1/2 hours]??

thanks
karen

No problem for me Hi Karen, as soon as I finished chemo and before starting rads, I flew to Budapest (just over 2 hours). Didn’t take any special precautions and no problems. Margaret

Have a lovely holiday Hi Karen,
I too, went on holiday after treatment finished, i had no problems and didnt take any special precautions…
If you feel a little achey, then maybe do some exercises… which should help. Have recently been on 2 short flights with no probs.
Have a wonderful time.
Lots of love

lymphoedema risk Hi Karen

Would say, depends whether you had total auxillary clearance or just sampling under arm. I had ANC and therefore arm at far greater risk of lymphoedema. I took a sleeve with me on recent short haul, but did not actually wear it, as I already have swelling in upper arm and my BC Nurse thought the sleeeve in my situation might make it worse. But I took sleeve in case anything was to happen during holidays. Also took an antibiotic prescription (just in case of bites/infection/injury), but thankfully had no need for any of this.

So, good luck. Have a great holiday.

Birgit

I had ANC and was advised by Lymphodeoma nurse (I’m fine BTW, no sign of it) that really no need for sleeve unless a real long-haul flight.

Holidays… Hi Karen

I just bought the flight socks from Boots and wore them for the first feww times, dont know if they helped or not.

Have a great holiday!
