days 1-4 felt freezing cold and generally odd
day 5 broke into a massive sweat
felt far better after that - days 6,7
now coming into day 8 and voice has nearly gone - throat hurts
don’t feel too bad in myself -
have only taken intermittent paracetamols as needed up to now
not sure what to do - haven;t had a cold for 5 years! … am catching up now though …
is it OK to let it take its course or should i go to the doctor ???
any advice welcome
Oh yes - finished radio Oct 8th (it took the stuffin gout of me) and have only been feeling “normal” for a very few weeks …
I can’t believe I made it through chemo and rads to catch a stinking cold in the village at the end of it, similar symptoms to you.
My understanding is that breaking out into fever for a short period after incubating a virus is one of our bodies best ways of killing of a virus and a sore throat is often one of the final stages of a common cold (and also one of the first peversely) so it does sound like you’ve got a plain old cold to me. I know I have cause my OH has the same thing and he didn’t do the chemo or rads (although often feels like he did poor thing).
But as you had trouble with neuts etc I’d make an appointment and go see doc in a couple of days if you don’t get better or get worse. That’s what I’m going to do.
Oh yeah… keep a record of your temperature just in case and if it gets too high call the doc. Wow… 2 months ago I could tell you what too high was of the top of my head and now it’s just gone.
Heres a couple of remedies for your throat
Gargle with soluble asprin, gargle for as long as poss using all the water in the glass
followed my a table spoon of mashed up butter cider vinegar and sugar (its yummy trust me)
I think its common to get a cold after treatment, you body tries to keep going so not to distrupt you tretaments and then when its over you relax and wham bam! happend to me also.
