Radiation Fibrosis
Radiation Fibrosis Sorry to ask you all, but could someone tell me what the symptoms are and what is Radiation Fibrosis?
My GP has mentioned that it sounds like that this is what I have as I am now suffering tingling heat sensations as well as numbness and stiffening of the fingers and arm on my operated side. It is also affecting my right leg as well and my left arm and hand. I am finding it difficult to grip anything for any length of time and have a lot of muscle spasms in my right arm and shoulder blade. As I am seriously overweight, I do get breathless, however recently, this seems to have got much worse.
Hope someone can help me and sorry to be such a moan.
Regards

Radiation fibrosis is a type of scarring that causes tissue to become hard and stiff. In addition, it is thought that a build up of fluid escaping from tiny blood vessels into the spaces between cells adds to hardness.
I have this under my treated breast which is heavily scarred owing to the nature of my op. Fortunately, the scars are only visible close-up.
It does sound like you are having a rotten time of it. Are you doing your arm exercises? I’m afraid these are lifelong.
Hope this helps.

Breast Cancer Care
update Thought I’d let you know that I have an appointment with my Oncologist on Tuesday thanks to my Breast Care Nurse. Took the advice of the helpline and people who replied to my post. GP has increased my gabapentin tablets to help combat the pain however they are making me feel sleepy. Will let you know how I get on.
Much love to you all always and keep well.

Pain around collar bone after rads Hi Everyone
Has anyone else experienced this. I have just finished 20 rads, of which I had 15 to my collar bone as I had lymph node involvement. The space between my collar bone and base of neck, you know where the dip is, is very achy. The area also feels thicker and more fibrous than the other side. I am assuming that it is the rads that have done it as I know it can cause thickening to breast tissue and scar tissue. But I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. Also I find if I have to do a lot of driving the seat belt irritates the area as well.
