Radio Frequency Ablation - anyone?

I am due to have the last (planned at the moment) chemo tomorrow. After that I am to discuss with my oncologist the MRI Scan which I will have in 2 weeks time - what next.
Has anyone had experience of RFA of the Liver? How does it go? Also laser treatment? I read about Spike and have not seen anything from er for a while.

Any thoughts or experiences -
gill

Gill, I haven’t had RFA of the liver myself but I’m fairly sure that there are people on the site who have. Hopefully you will hear from one of them.
Very best wishes, Jackiexxx

Onc said he was not worried by lump - the Liver is the thing. I had the chemo and will go for the MRI scan in 2 weeks.

not so worried now.

Hi Gill,
I don’t understand your message! Do you mean he’s concerned about your liver function? Or do you still have a breast lump? Please elaborate for me…
I’m expecting a call any day now from the surgeon I saw at UCLH, to discuss whether I want to go ahead and zap the general area where the tumour was last seen (to which the answer is yes). However I’ve just received an appointment to have RFA in March, so I don’t know if she’s booking me a slot just in case, or if it’s a computer generated appointment and she had nothing to do with it!
I will keep you posted. Good luck with your MRI
love Jacquie

Aaah Gill, I just read your entry on the liver secondaries thread. Now I understand!

Hi Gill

I’m still around but haven’t been active here recently. Had other problems to contend with. My liver is still looking good following the laser treatment in July/August last year but I have bone issues now and have had a few shots of radiotherapy. Nothing seems to be touching the pain but have today visited my local hospice for the first time and had a chat with the Palliative Consultant who has helped with the pain medication and I’m just sitting in bed now feeling the benefits of paracetamol, dicolfenec, tramadol and MST, hopefully this will see me through the night. The palliative consultant has also recommended that I have another bone scan to determine exactly where the pain is coming from (my last bone scan was in May 08). I’m also hoping to go back out to Germany again for further treatment but it is difficult to arrange this when my mobility is so poor due to the pain in my right leg and hip.

Please feel free to ask any questions about the laser treatment I had to the liver.

Best wishes and happy new year to all.

Spike

Hello Spike, glad to hear youare ok from the Liver point of view.

I do not have much pain at all from bone the the moment. sorry for yours
do you have to go back to Germany for pain relief radiotherapy?

My onc is going to a talk to the Pelican Centre about Laser - if this seems to be a option, post MRI.

Hope you continue well in other ways.
