Can anyone tell me what the difference between “radiotherapy” & “palliative radiotherapy”

I noticed on the paperwork for my primary bc radiotherapy treatment a few weeks ago that there was a choice of two boxes to be ticked by the radiographer - ‘curative’ or ‘palliative’. It struck me even then as stark. But I would assume that the palliative treatment is intended to indicate symptom control rather than the active possibility of cure of disease. Ultimately the essential difference between Primary and Secondary breast cancer. I wish it were otherwise… x
