Radiotherapy

Hi, my mum will be starting radiotherapy in the next few weeks. I understand that this effects everyone in different ways and people get different side effects. Can I do anything now, to help relieve some discomfort when it begins.

Thanks, your all amazing

Hi Pink Princess

I am sorry to hear about your mum but it’s great that you are looking after her needs, I don’t think there is much you can do to be honest with you, as until it starts you dont know how it will effect you…for me it has been like a case of sunburn and tanning others hardly notice it, apparently it depends on what prescription you are having…

Hi PP, I know that using Aloe Vera juice on the radio’ed area will greatly help with the healing of the burns that result from radiotherapy - am going to stock up on some for me when I start mine in Feb - it’s also the best thing for sunburn, incidentally

My friends’ Mum got very ill on her rads, more so than on her chemo. My Mum was exhausted by her 3 week stint of rads, but suffered nothing else and her energy came back within a few weeks, whereas the official warning is that you can suffer crushing exhaustion for months and months after.

I think, like with chemo, it all depends on the individual and the prescription given.

Hope this is of some help,
Love and hugs,

Thankyou very much for your time and advice. I will pass that on.

Thanks again
