Hi, I finished 15 sessions of Rads 11 days ago. Last THurs noticed skin in fold under boob was coming away and looked a bit raw. Same with skin under arm where had ANC. Phoned hospital and was told to get dressings which I’m now using (gauze impregnated with some ointment and a shiny dressing on top). Just want to know if anyone else has had this and is it usual for it to go on for so long - am wondering how it’s ever gonna dry up. Have let air get to it in between dressing it but still seems quite wet. Any advice most welcome.

Hi i had this and it is called moist desquamation… bizarrly it has to be kept damp to heal… the shiny side of the dressing is meant to be next to your skin with a thick layer of flamazine cream - the cream has to be disguarded after a week and a new tube used so don’t feel bad about using lots… you are meant to keep the dressing there as much as possible… i used surgical tape to keep the dressings in place at night.
My skin really was a total mess and doing this cleared it up in only about a week. (i had to have a lot of radiotherapy because of having IBC)

Thanks Theresa, will persevere with the dressings.
