Hi, I’m new here, I found a hard solid lump about an inch in length by a cm width, it feels rough on top, I made an appointment with my Dr on Friday, she said it is big and then proceeded to look at guidelines for someone at my age on what to do next, she then decided not to bother and has referred me to hospital, my mother had a mastectomy at 53, same age as me, followed by a hysterectomy 8 months later, unfortunately big C caught up with her again and took her away, I have no other symptoms, I haven’t been ill but have felt off for a few months, I put it down to menopause. I really don’t know what to expect when I attend my appointment, any information will be greatly received, do I need to worry ?
Sorry tried to edit last post but the option of editing isn’t in my option drop down, Hospital has just rang me, got appointment for next Monday at 8.30 am, fingers, toes and everything else crossed xx
hi Yealand,
Thankfully you have been referred & now have the appointment.
Mostly it turns out to be nothing serious, but even if on tbe off chance it is, bc is very treatable now & it will be dealt with.
You will see the dr who will do an examination, then ultrasound maybe done & if needed a mammogram. If it is still not clear what it is, then a biopsy will be performed.
If a biopsy is done, then there is another week or 2 for the results - it does not necessarily mean its bc.
Easier said than done, but try not to think beyond the appointment & it helps to carry on with things as normal.
