Hi, I am 25 and have found 1 lump in each of my breasts. I saw my GP today who confimed this and has ‘urgently’ reffered me for a ‘scan’. The news was a shock and I didn’t think to ask any questions, just wondering if anyone could give me any advice about the scan I am going to have?
Hi there sorry to hear you have found lumps in your breast I am so pleased to hear that (A) you went and got it checked by your GP as so many younger women seem to ignore breats lumps and (B) that you have been reffered as urgent as many GP dont take younger women with breast lupms so seriously and therfore refer us as non urgent.
I can only tell you what happened to me when I was finally refered first I got an appointment to go to the breast clinic where I was examined by a breast care nurse who felt the lumps and then did a needle biopsy where a needle was inserted into the lump. He then told me that it could be a cluster of cysts as no fluid came out when he did the biopsy, so he wanted me to go for a mamogramme and also an ultra sound. After all the tests unfortunatly for me it was bad news and the start of a long journey.
With many younger women it is not normaly breast cancer I had many lumps when I was younger that were just fatty tissue.
If there is anything else I can help you with please ask ans i will try to help, can I recommend that you take a family member or a friend with you to the appointment as it can be a very long day and it is nice ot have someone there with you.
Take care and I hope all goes well please keep us informed on how you get on.

It’s perfectly normal to feel anxious about your appointment and to worry about what will happen at the clinic.
Breast Cancer Care has a really helpful and informative leaflet which you may find useful to read whilst you are waiting for other users to share their experiences. I have given the link here:
