I went to go with breast pain in my right breast. She said she couldn’t feel anything in either breast but she would refer me anyway just to be sure. She forgot to do the referral at first I had to chase it up so I waited 4 weeks for the appointment!
Got there and the consultant felt a lump in both breasts! The painful breast was just a hormonal lump and nothing to worry about but the opposite breast had a suspicious “change” she called it and took 4 biopsies. Results on Tuesday but as you can imagine we are all really worried because the doctors face said it all, I could see how suspicious she was, time has virtually stopped whilst waiting for these results, my life is on hold with worry ![]()
Hi Mandy, so sorry you are going through this but, even if the results confirm cancer, this disease is treatable and curable. I know it’s really hard, but try to stay positive that it has been found early.
Have you had mammogram and ultrasound tests? I just ask, because it would be impossible for a doctor to detect cancer just by feeling a lump.
At this stage, remember that the vast majority of lumps that are biopsied turn out to be harmless but, if not, there is treatment available.
My results were not good and I’m in for surgery on Monday, but I’m remaining positive because that’s all I can do. I know there’s a long road ahead of me, but I can’t change what’s happened, so I just need to take it one day at a time.
Try to have a good weekend, relax and do things you enjoy. Whatever happens on Tuesday, there are people here for you, stay strong x
Ladies
Just wanted to wish you both well. Chockxie for your op on Monday and Mandy that your results will come back as nothing sinister. Whatever the outcome breast cancer is very treatable these days. Just take each day as it comes and try not to think too far ahead.
I hope that this gives you some comfort, two years ago today I was diagnosed with bc, had a lumpectomy and snb (sentinel node biopsy) all came back with clear margins, I went on to have radiotherapy which I completed in January 2017 and am on a hormone blocking tablet for the next ten years. The day I was diagnosed I could not have imagined being around the next summer never mind 2 years later.
I am back to doing all the things I used to do before my diagnosis, including playing lawn green bowls which is my hobby.
Sending you both hugs
Helena xxx
Thanks for your replies ladies, just one more day and I will know! I hope your op is going ok today chocxie7!
I had an ultrasound and she used it to guide the needle for the biopsies. My breast is black and blue from it but her face just had cancer written all over it xx
