Hi - I wondered if others had gone through this. I was dx last June and had treatment. First annual mammo on Monday and today I got a letter asking me to go back for another mammo but this time on the other side. Can’t help feeling anxious - any reassurance would be welcome.

I had my one year mammo in Feb. At the clinic I go to the radiologist looks at the films whilst you wait to see the surgeon. I was hauled back in for another view of my other boob. I had an anxious half an hour waiting to see the surgeon, but was told everything was fine. The radiographer said sometimes it’s as simple as a slight crease in the flesh that means they just want a clearer view.
I hope you don’t have to wait too long.

I was recalled for 2nd mammo and ultrasound on other side, about 5 years after first diagnosis. Gave me a horrible shock when they told me this, but turned out to be nothing, just some strange distortion on the first mammo. I think if we have had cancer once they tend to be particularly careful about any tiny thing they see, but in my case it was good news.

as i said most recalls are for benign changes… but they are even more vigilant for women who have had bc before so much more likely to be recalled if you have a personal history or family history of BC.
fingers crossed you are one of the 90% who get recalled for benign changes.
if you are unlucky enough to be in the 10% with suspicious changes then it will most likely be at very early stages as they obv didnt see it on your mammo last year.
even if they know its benign they will still recall you so they can get more evidence to support this.
its a worrying time for you alex and i really feel for you hun.

Thankyou for your comments - I really appreciate it. The worst thing up here is the waiting, it wouldn’t be so bad if they would tell you on the same day. And the mammo is blooming barbaric. My right boob and arm are still hurting!

Really sorry you have had a recall, all very worrying isn’t it? l was called back and found to have bc in January,
I was told any further mammograms would be screened yearly and not to worry too much if recalled, as they take extra precautions, which is good thing.
Hope your recall proves to be nothing serious

Hi I recently had a recall after a recent mammogram. They wanted me have an ultrasound and another mammo. All was fine in the end. It was just a normal bit of “me” they could see. But I came away feeling pleased that I had been REALLY checked out and knowing they had followed through to confirm all was ok. Hope it is the same for you. Love Val
