Recalled for investigation

I am 57 just had my third mammogram on two weeks ago and been recalled on this coming Monday 11th July.  The nurse called yesterday to say they had found an area in the left breast that needed further investigation.  Wondered if anyone else was going through this and what to expect if they do a biopsy Im not good with needles.  Thanks.

Hi Sarah,

'Well, thank goodness you went for the mammogram so now you will get to the bottom of what the issue is.

I was recalled after my second mammogram & what tends to happen is that any initial investigations will be done there & then. Depending on what the issue is, the mammogram will be repeated, then & if needed, ultrasound examination & biopsy. If a biopsy is done (it’s all ok!) the results then take a week or so to come through.

It is an anxious time but you will get through it & the nhs is pretty good at dealing with this.

As it turned out, I did have a small early BC, which was straightforward to treat thanks to early detection.

So glad I went for that mammogram!

Hi Sarah

I had a similar experience as you are having. … and honestly the biopsies were completely painless. I had a small local, no pain, then 10 core biopsies and the click of the automatic needle was more odd than any pain. As Sue says, you might be in for a long visit because you may have several different investigations.

You have to cultivate  looking into the distance while being half naked with people moving your breasts about… I had wonderful expert and kind care, I’m sure you will have, too. All the best, Caroluna

Thanks to both of you. I’ll let you know outcome on Monday. Great to hat with others that went through same thing. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for advice. Great to chat with someone whose been through it. I will update you on Monday. Thanks
