Recent Tram Flap (Pedicled)

Hi all

I know everyone is different but… I had a pedicle Tram Flap 28th June this year, and recovery is going really well, although I do now have an infection. Absolutely thrilled with my op and just can’t wait to put on lovely underwear and wear loads of tops that I have missed out on since Dec08. It’s only been nearly 3 weeks can you just let me know in your personal experience how long was it until you could stand up straight and when were you able to wear normal bra’s again. Although I am nearly up straight I can feel my tummy pulling, it doesn’t hurt at all but I don’t want to cause any damage, should I be gently encourging it? or should I leave it?, when I asked the nurse before they discharged me she said “You’ll just know”. Whats that supposed to mean, do I just wait?. At least speaking to you guys I know what I’m kind of aiming for.

Thanks

Carole xx

Hi
I had DIEP flap (so it is free rather than pedicled) last Tuesday. But I am able to stand up straight without any problems already. The drains are driving me crazy though!
I am thrilled with my new breast and flat tummy.

Oh wow thats great news!!!, can you feel your tummy pulling though?.
Isn’t it amazing what they can do

xx

Hi

Yes there is a little pulling, but it isn’t uncomfortable … just the drain tugging is only thing that is a problem (hate that drain!!!)

Just saw the PS today. He was pleased with his handiwork, and I am thrilled now that the support tape is off, my breast looks better than I ever hoped. he did say that I still mustn’t do anything except ‘potter around the house and watch TV’ for another week or so. Arrggghh

How are you getting on today?

Jacqui

Hi Jacqui

Glad all is well with you, I had to go back to the hospital today as I still have two parts in the front of my tummy that are still weeping…anyway all is well, the nurse said the antibiotics are working although she has given me different dressings. I did ask her about “straightening up” and she said I should be doing that now anyway despite the slight pulling, so I am happy with that. Just getting a little frustrated now as I feel fine, think that must be the hardest part as you’ve still got to take it easy.

Well you take it easy !!! and speak soon
