recently diagnosed

Hi all.

Just got diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. seeing doc tomorrow morning at the QE II. still a bit in shock, but now i know what’s wrong i can get on with it. just really impatience now. wanna it out and i wanted done yesteday. i believe my doc will have everything planned already and probably a date for the surgery, Lister Hospital, Stevenage, according the the breast nurse.

I beat Hep c after two hellish treatments, I’m certain i can beat this aswell.

how long does the surgery itself last? i live 15 minutes down the road from the hospital so i hope to go home the same day.

Hi MarMagenis,
First of all, welcome to the forum, there’s loads of support from all of us here.
It depends on the surgery, but for many of us who have a ‘wide local excision’ or lumpectomy, it’s normally day surgery, so in & out the same day.
It is a shock, but it does settle down & become a lot clearer.

The full experience (Registration, conferring with doctors, sentinel node mapping and the surgery) amounted to almost 6 hours for me. But I slept for an hour after the surgery.
