I’ve been given the option of having recon at the same time as my mastectomy or to wait around a year. They said that the rad could distort the recon if done at same time but it would save having two surgeries. What are everyones experiences for either?
I don’t have the answer as I didn’t have a mastectomy. I have read about people needing skin stretching before a recon, so it might be a good idea to do it at the same time so you don’t need that done. However, you might find you have more responses from people in the know if you post this question in the section for people Going Through Treatment.

Hi ,yes best to post this in the surgery section.There are pros and cons to both but if there is a chance you need radiotherapy it can cause issues with implant .Hope it works out well whatever option you chose .
