Hi
I’m posting this in the hope that someone may know what the hell I’m talking about & I’m not alone.
Had recon (LD) in October & the “corner” of the scar (on the cleavage - GREAT!) scabbed really badly, took 8 weeks longer than the rest of the needlework to heal & stayed VERY red & raw looking. This area has now formed a domed, almost blister shape, and surrounding tissue to quite red. Not sore or hot though & I’ve not got temp etc. Been to GP who put me on high dose antibiotics as thought it was infection. These have done nothing.
Gonna go back this week but wondered if anyone has had same scar trouble or had any good guesess what could be occuring. Looks as if breast is growing its own nipple- but nipple on cleavage ain’t a good look!
I haven’t yet had a reconstruction but have been reading a book this week. What you are describing sounds like what this author is saying, i.e. “In a small number of people scars become red and thickened in the early months. Be patient as they nearly always settle down with time.”
Just thought it might be that and hope that helps. Have you seen your bc nurse, they will probably have come across it before.
I’m sure someone with experience will come along soon.
Good luck.

Thanks Rosie
Your post has helped. I saw the health visitor today and asked her about it (as you do). She said it looks superficial & I should be able to get it chopped out by PS to make a neater line.
Will see GP tomorrow though I think for second opinion/peace of mind.
Thanks again
Hi mammabee, my scar did exactly that in 2 places. I scar quite badly, however, after a year it has settled down to a level I am now happy with and is nearly all flat on the whole scar. A year may sound a long time but my hysterectomy scar took over a year to stop looking angry and swollen.
Hi Mammabee,
this happened to me in 3 places along my scar and eventually after about 10 months out pops 3 bits of the twine or whatever they use to sew it up with - it seems the dissolvable stitches didn’t dissolve and eventually got pushed to the surface!
