reconstruction 1st time didnt work

Hi ladies,

Don’t come on here very often now but saw this and had to join in!!!
I’m scheduled for my recon at East Grinstead in November. Tinfish you will be very well looked after there. The consultant and his team that I am under are lovely. I should have had my op in June but it had to be cancelled and I now have to wait until November.
I had my mx in Sept 2009 followed by chemo and rads. Because of the lobular cancer they found, I am having a prophylatic (spelling?) mx and then fat and skin from my tummy will be used to make two new boobs!! I will have 3 surgeons and have been told the op will be around 12 hours. I am very confident in the team there, seen some photos of their work which is fantastic.
Hope this helps,

Jane x

Hi
I am off this afternoon for CT scan, have an appointment 16th Sept to see the PS at East Grinstead. I really appreciate your messages it somehow helps to feel your not alone (although I wished all of our ops had gone to plan). I am looking forward to seeing the PS although a little worried and not sure the outcome. I am someone who hate not having 2 boobs weither thats vanity or not I dont know but I promised myself one more go.

So here goes!!!

Hi well originally saw surgeon in july 2009 and was booked for op in jan 2010 but could of had it done before the xmas of that year, postponed by me due to a lot of reasons and had psychological therapy.Saw surgeon again august 2010 and got op booked in march 2011 I am booked again for an uplift on the 5th jan 2012, lovely hospital lovely surgeons very well looked after love suzan x

Thanks Suzan

It looks like it will probably be next year, I know my consultant put ladies with cancer first and then recons etc 2nd which of course I understand and I would expect others to do the same. Also I dont want it in December because its our turn to do the dinner etc, and I dont think I would be up to it so would prefer after then.

Hiya, been years since been on site thought everything was going fine . . . had mx in July 2008 with implant recon was in a lot of pain but was told was to be expected but when I went for my review in Dec last year I told BS that I couldn’t take pain anymore, was sent fot a bone scan straight away as he was concerned cancer could have spread - despite chemo - luckily all ok there but was scarey waiting, he took out the implant as it was too big and was pushing onto a nerve, no wonder I was in pain!!! Referred to plastics to see about fat transfer in Jan this year was told a perfect candidate as had plenty of stores (cheeky b) and on waitng list. Am having op on tues 26th July managed to get myself into a total pickle as have been able to diet and exercise and lost 3 stone and 3 1/2 sizes as out of pain and didn’t know if wanted to put myself through more ops and pain so saw PS on fri and he was super made me feel good about myself and gave me the low down on what he would do and that he wanted to make me level on both sides, may even in futer reduce (R) side down again as not happy with shape BS left it, I adore my BS so this didn’t sit well initially but have to agree that it’s not right I told PS just want to look normal in a dress or top that can/does show a cleavage not feel like a freak. Have booked off 1 week at work but think may need longer as he says bruising can be really bad. Sorry for waffling on. Mo

Hi Mo,

Welcome back to the forums, I hope you find the support you are looking for this time round. Don’t forget the helpline staff are there if you need a chat.

Take care,

Hi Mo

Others dont seem to realise yes the majority of us look good in clothes and yes we should feel lucky to have got rid of the disease but your mind plays funny games on you,

I have well meaning friends who have asked should I be putting myself through more ops, but they dont have to look at their selfs naked. And oh to have a lovely clevage again and to wear whatever top with out worrying about bending down etc

Good luck and hope you op goes well

L
