reconstruction using implant or top of leg?

<li-spoiler> </li-spoiler>

Has anyone had a reconstruction using the inner thigh?

Or have strong opinions on implants versus own tissue.

Trying to decide on whether an implant would be better for an A cup breast or using inner thigh.

I realise that the surgery is much, much longer if you use your own tissue but may prevent other problems later.

Probably its only one side though waiting for biopsy under MRI to confirm this.

Almost two months now waiting for one test or another to decide diagnosis, which was initially DCIS but then possible invasive showed on MRI as well as something in the other breast. However these lesions couldn’t be found on ultrasound to biopsy, I am 49.

Thank you

I’ve not heard of using inner thigh tissue, only tummy or back, however I didn’t want to risk back problems or face the long recovery with tummy one, so I had the implant using pig tissue to support it which was all done in one operation (about 3 hours). The results are good and I returned to work on a phased return after 8.5 wks. Xx

Hi Jennie,

I was checked out for inner thigh tissue by the plastics team. I am fairly slim so they wanted to check all areas they could take from. In the end I decided on the same reconstruction that Kiki mentions below. I’m very happy with it so far. Much less pain than I would ever have imagined and it’s settling well. I am only a B-cup and think it works best if you are not too ample. While I would rather have my own breast back I have been pleasantly surprised by how untraumatic I’ve found the experience so far.

Good luck with your decision.
