Im currently having my implant inflated with 100 ml saline every 3 weeks but is it normal to find the pain increases and takes longer to recover after each inflate? are the mood swings just me?
Hi Annen
You might find you get more replies to your question if you post again in the undergoing surgery forum - reconstruction. I have put you the link below.

Hi Annen,
I too had Tissue expanders. I have to say I was not too uncomfortable until the last 100ml (400ml total) They drew a small amount back out & it was better. If you are not comfy they can draw some out - it may mean more visits but if it works for you then so be it - Your body Your choice remember. They may have a set timetable but it has to be flexible in case of such problems. Take your time, go at your own pace. Do you have painkillers? I got Gabapentin painkillers as co codamol & trazadone do not help nerve damage pain. I just wanted to get it all behind me, but here I am 3 weeks post exchange & still sore on Rads side & needing more surgery. bionic women me…but done by instalments!!

It’s now only painful around the port, so I’ve got my next appointment on Wed, which should be for the next inflate but I’ll mention how uncomfortable it has been. I’m impatient and really want to get it all over and done with but as you rightly say its my life, thank you for reminding me its all my choice. The end result will be worth it I’m sure it might just take a bit longer. When did you have the first inflate and did you have regular inflates and how long did you have to wait for the permanent implant from the last inflate? x
