Reconstructive surgery (tummy option) and childbirth

Just wanted to share this with people out there and also ask if anyone knew about this.

I am about to have reconstructive surgery with the tummy tuck option - still waiting for an appointment which should be any day soon. Anyhow i attended a recent talk that my local trust had where plastic surgery consultants attended to talk about the different options avialable. It was excellent and very information.

I however posed a question to one of the surgeons - I am 36 yrs old and dont have any kids but would like to start a family one day (once my tamixofen is finished in 2.5yrs time). I asked how the tummy tuck option would impact on my child bearing. The surgeon i dont think had been asked that question before and said that although its not impossible its generally more suitable for women who have had kids. They dont recommend falling pregnant soon after - think its one year, but that doesnt apply to me as i have a while to go on tamoxifen.

Has anyone else come across this? And why dont surgeons talk about this when discussing surgery with patients

there are a lot of younger women out there who havent had families and would like to start a family. And i feel that this is something that really should be highlighted to make women aware of their options.
