Hi everyone. I had op on fri came home same day. I had 3 lymph nodes taken. I was wondering when everyone got back to normal routine like school runs lifting things etc. Any help much appreciated.
Hope everyone is well. Hugs xx
Hi Hayley,
Do you have to drive for the school runs?
The only frustration I had with getting back to a normal routine was the fact that my breast surgeon and breast care team all advised that I should not drive for 4 weeks post-surgery (my BC in left breast). Handbrake side.
For ladies who had operation on their right side, the time period was 2 weeks post-surgery.
The reason for this advice was that you may not be fully covered post-surgery with your car insurance company in the event of a car accident if you drove before the recommended recovery times.
I did not drive for two and half weeks but could not last for the recommended 4 weeks especially as I felt perfectly fine to drive after the first week.
I did check the small print on my car insurance but couldn’t find anything.
In the end, I decided to take the risk after two and half weeks because I got fed up with the inconvenience and isolation.
Hi, I needed to take a relative to hospital 1 week after op, so I drove then. Advice I was given by pysio was drive when I feel able to. My nodes (6 of them) were taken from Right side, so no problem with gear stick. Back to work after 10 days - in an office. My choice because I feel better with a routine. Nearly 3 months now, can’t lift boxes and heavy things quite like I used to, but got used to asking people to help me with physical stuff.
