I am booked in for nipple reconstruction later this month. My lovely surgeon says I may need 2 weeks off work to protect the wound. I hadn’t expected to need so much time off as it is just a day case op under local anaesthetic and wondered how others had found recovery times.
Would be great to hear from others who have been through it.

Hi K, I had nipple reconstruction a couple of weeks ago but not under a local anaesthetic because I had some other changes. So, I can’t offer thoughts on recovery time to you. After the original dressing came off, the surgeon advised me to wear a folded over gauze with a hole cut out to protect the new nipple until today. I’m assuming that is to stop it being flattened by a bra before it’s had time to establish itself. I’m happy with the result ?. Wishing you all the best for your reconstruction X.
