Hi,
My Mum has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and is about to start 6 moths of chemo. Bit of a shock to say the least. She is due to finish her course at the end of the year. I am in the midst of planning my wedding and had planned to marry my girlfirend in Syndney in March 2010 (at the moment). I really want her to be there for my wedding and am prepared to move the date if needs be.
What i’d like to know, from those of you that have gone through this, is will she have any chance of going over to Australia for march or will this defiantly be too soon after her course?
Many thanks for your time
Alex
Hi Alex,
Welcome to the Breast Cancer Care discussion forums, I’m sure you’ll get lots of support from the many informed users of this site not only for yourself but for your mum too. BCC have many publications which may be useful both to yourself and your mum, to access these just follow the ‘Publications’ link from the home page, you can either download them directly or order to be sent out to you through the post. All BCC’s publications are free of charge. You may also find the BCC helpline useful for a good listening ear, the staff on the helpline are all either breast care nurses or people who have personal experience of breast care issues. Calls to the helpline are free, 0808 800 6000 open weekdays 9 - 5 and Saturdays 9 - 2.
Don’t be afraid to ask anything here, there’s always someone to support you. Hope this helps.
Kind regards,

Hi Jo,
Many thanks for poiniting me in the right direction. Have told mum about this site and even though she is not a pc user i am going to get her on here at the weekend (hopefully) as she is feeling a little lost with everything going on and i think it will do her some good to hera and see what other people are going through.

Obviously it is different for everyone but I was 62 at dx and had a rotten time on chemo-but-I would certainly have been able to make a wedding 6 months after finishing-it depends on what her docs say I think-it is a long way.Any chance of changing venue rather than date?
