I have had previous benign lumps and lymph nodes removed from my right breast everything seems ok including the swollen lymph nodes still present in my armpit. My new concern is to do weith my left breast, when looking in the mirror last week I noticed a red area about the size of a ten pence peice starting at the edge of the areole. I thought it may have been a bite, but have been keeing an eye on it and have noticed it increasing in size. It is now about the size of two ten pence pieces, not completely circular and feels slightly thicker beneath the surface of the skin. I have no pain and cannot feel a definate lump, nothing moves around although it seems slightly thicker and slightly more lump like towards the centre. I am probably being totally stupid and worrying unneccesarily. Has any one out there got any advice for me. I would really appreciate it.
Thank you
LOL to all

my advice is to go to your GP and discuss, as you have found changes
I agree with molennium, there is no way you can tell if this is benign or not, and you will only worry until you know for sure.
Hi Rachel,
Any changes to the breast need to be checked.
Don’t want to be alarmist but please remember you don’t have to have a lump for it to be breast cancer.
I hope you’ve made an appt and that it all proves benign again but please let us know.

Hi All
Thanks for your replys. Was worried all day and luckily managed to get an appointment for this eve. Just got back. One of the other things that my lucky Husband noticed when I bared all to him on my return was that the left breast was considerably more swollen than the other one.
Going back to the doctors visit, I went in and voiced my concerns, he had a look, said mmm and yes poked around a bit then mmm very inflamed, but lucky for you it is not one of the nasty ones, you have got mastitis. I am going to give you antibiotics.
I have been on flucloxicillin for a week now (for another problem) and the inflamed are has not disappeared. He said he would try another antibiotic. I asked him how he could be so sure that It was mastitis. I have had this before when breast feeding about 7 years ago, and what I could remember of it, it was very painful. I have no pain, just inflammation. I decided that I wanted to go back and see my consultant, he did not argue and said he would refer me. Will let you all know more when I have some news.
Thank you all,
lol

Make a stand. It could be secondary bc in the skin. Ask for referral to either a skin specialist or back to the oncologists. My skin secondaries sound very like what you describe, and if antibiotics are having no effect you need more specialised help…
