Hi everyone, Im having 3rd dose of tax tomorrow but my onc is reducing the dose by 20% due to having extremely sore fingers and feet for 2 weeks after 2nd dose, also tax 3 has been delayed for a week. Had anyone had a reduced dose and if so were the side effects the same? Im obviously hoping they will be better but thinking they may be as bad! thanks Ness xx
Sorry wrong plc
My doctor reduced my chemo by 20% as I was suffering chronic fatigue. I was on FEC. I did feel slightly better but still tired
Hi nessp,
My Onc reduced my 3rd FEC by 20% I haven’t started TAX yet, and I can honestly say I didnt really feel any difference?? SE’s were still very apparent. I know it is not the same but by reducing it didnt make much difference?
Hope that helps abit

Hi. Had my second TAX reduced by 20% and se’s are lighter. I still had neutrpenia but managed to get home from hospital with anti bi’s the same day instead of having to stay in. I haven’t needed the painkillers this time but the tiredness is still the same. Mouth symptons not so bad. I could sleep anywhere. Just tired and depressed really. can’t wait until it is over.
hi i had my tax reduced by 20% after the first one, i have just had the 5th of a 6 regime,
i had a reaction during the 2nd one,
it is difficult to say whether the ses were reduced or not, how can you tell?
all i know is i have had the same ses each time, i have catalogued them and i dont believe they have been much different,
i am not sure whether they have been accumulative or not,
as yet the only ses i havent had have been the hands and feet, although my fingernails arent too good, infection, or temp, i have experienced pretty much everything else,
the most difficult for me has been the mental side of it i have actually felt as if i was losing touch, chemo fog, whatever you call it, i have found it scary and felt very vulnerable,
good luck and i hope your ses are reduced,
what regime are you on?

Hi, thanks everyone for their comments, Liz, Ive had 4 fec, 2 tax, 2 tax to go, then surgery then not sure if rads or not. After the 1st FEC I was terribly sick for 48 hours but after that it wasnt too bad, i could at least have 2 good weeks, but after last tax I couldnt walk for a few days, feet extremely painful, then very sore fingers and nails, couldnt do buttons or zips up and felt very low for a week or so. Im just hoping it wont be as bad. Ness x
Definitely made some difference when I had my dose reduced by 25%. First time I had terrible itchy blisters all over the palms of my hands and didn’t get that the second time.
Some of us obviously react more strongly than others. I still had a lot of side effects for the rest of the tax but definitely not as bad as first time.
hope it improves for you, take care, Elinda x
Hi
My tax dose was reduced by 10 % for 2 and 3. I found my mouth was less sore, much smaller ulcers and I recovered more quickly.
Hope you get some benefit from the change. Mine was reduced because of low neuts, despite the neulasta jab.
