Reduction and uplift

Hello

I’ve just had my consultation with the PS and he has refused to do lipofill as there is no research to support this treatment. He has offered me a reduction on the good breast or a reduction and uplift on the good breast and an uplift on the other breast. If I only had the reduction on the good breast I would end up with the same cup size, but still a different shape. Just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience with the PS. I really don’t know what to do now.

Thanks.

Hi dizzyrunner

I had WLE last year (September) and at the same time had the nipple resited. In the good breast I had a reduction and a nipple resite done. This has left me with a very good cosmetic and aesthetic outcome. I hope that this info. might help you. Take care. J.

Hi

Thanks, that’s one positive!!

Hi dizzyrunner

Bit of a late response here, only just seen your query. I had WLE combined with a breast reduction and lift, due to the size of the tumour they had to remove (2cm plus some DCIS) which would have left me quite mis-shapen. As part of this op they re-sited the nipple, leaving the blood supply and nerves connected so that it would continue to function. My breast surgeon didn’t want to do the healthy side to match until several months after rads in case of shrinkage but I was so upset by the asymmetry that I persuaded her to do it 3 months after the BC side, 4 weeks after finishing rads. I’m really pleased with the result, it’s a good match and now so pert that I often go without a bra at home, which I wouldn’t have done before because I was too big and sagging.

Lipofill IS an option for some people, but the stem cell enriched version is only available at a few hospitals so far. The conventional type of lipofill has to be “topped up” from time to time, which I woulnd’t want to go through.
