I wore a vest top with a hidden support shelf initially because I was heavily taped! When the dressings were removed 1 week later, I wore a sports bra in the size that I was reduced to and wore it day and night for a long time!
I had the surgery on the Friday and went home Sunday after the drains were removed. (I had removal of DCIS, immediate reconstruction using clear breast tissue and reduction of the other breast).
I hope that this is helpful and that it all goes well for you.
Many thanks. My you really went for it - whole job done at once!! I’m hoping to have my reconstruction next year. I’ve had radiotherapy so I couldn’t have the recon done just yet, but patience is not my middle name, and I wanted to get something done - hence the reduction. I’m really looking forward to it. I’m currently 36DD and think I will feel happier in myself once I’m smaller.
Hi Lynda
I had my reduction in Feb this year. I didn’t bother buying any new bras till after the breast had settled - I bought some M & S vest tops and wore them and my usual bra on top. I was also in the LRI, in one day and out the next, due for recon next week! Will update…

Hi Lynda
I had a lumpectomy+“reshape”, axillary node clearance and reduction/lift on the other side early July. Like Kat, I was heavily taped for the first day or so and didn’t need a bra. I had taken all the sports bra’s I’d ever owned with me, along with some bra extenders etc, and made do with these after taping removed. Wore sports bra 24 hours for several weeks. I defo needed a bigger one for the first few weeks, until swelling settled. I was in hospital for 3 days, but this may have been due to ANC. Good luck!

Hi Lynda
I had two redcutions, one on my natural breast last year but they took away a bit much so I had my reconstruced breast reduced last week went in Tuesday op wednesday and home thursday.
I was told to wear a sport bra or very supportive one for 6 weeks but to wear it 24/7 for the first three weeks.
