My axillary drain is due to be removed tomorrow,I am worried about the wound healing+where the 40ml or so of fluid will go to when drain removed +if it will be painful.Also roughly how long wil it take to heal on average…

Hello ! In my case they would not remove the drain until I was producing less than 20 ml of fluid in two consecutive days - so they may not take them out at 40 ml but I’m sure they’ll only do it if they are happy . The incision sites are very small - they just put a plaster in my two and quite honestly I forgot they were even there . They healed really quickly - but were so insignificant I don’t even remember how long it took . It’s not exactly painful - just feels like a long worm being pulled out iof you ! it’s very quick and no pain once they are out . Please don’t worry it’s over before you know it !
