Response re swine flu vaccination

Hi all,

Following questions raised in last night’s secondary live chat here is the response from the clinical team here at BCC:

In recent months (after being contacted by users) Breast Cancer Care posted information about the swine flu vaccine for people undergoing chemotherapy. More recently Breast Cancer Care has also been asked about the swine flu vaccination for people with secondary breast cancer.

The current information from the Department of Health states that people who are a priority for the swine flu vaccination include: those people whose ‘immune systems are compromised, such as cancer patients or people with HIV/AIDS’.

Breast Cancer Care would encourage anyone with breast cancer (including both primary and secondary breast cancer) who has questions about having the swine flu vaccine or concerns about developing swine flu to speak to their specialist or medical team. They will be monitoring the situation closely and will be able to give the most up-to-date advice.

There is a swine flu vaccine information leaflet published by the department of health which gives further information. To read this leaflet online, please click on the following link.

There is also detailed information and including a question and answer section on the NHS website, NHS choices. To view this information, please click on the following link:

Kind regards
