Hi everyone,

I had a mx in november last year.

I immediately noticed an area, which looked like a seroma, however when I showed it to my bcn she said it was tissue, possibly filled with more fluid than tissue, she felt it and said it didnt need draining, I did actually have the actual scar drained which was o.k.

This area of ‘tissue’ I believe should have been removed,

any ladies out there that could advise me, I was under the impression the whole chest area should be flat, no tissue should be left behind,
my surgeon, onc and bcn have all said it is nothing to be concerned about but quite frankly I am not happy about it

any advice would be gratefully received,

Hi Liz,
I’m a bit behind you, only 6 weeks, but I do have some bulges. I’ve been left with the fold of skin that was underneath my breasts, which I was told my surgeon always does because it makes it easier to keep a bra in place. Above that I’ve got triangles (about 3" along each side) which are sunk in, with lumps around them and to the sides. A lot of my swelling has gone now, and I’m not sure about any of it now you mention it! I was aware that a small amount of breast tissue can be left behind because of the difficulty of removing it all, and I understood that this is why there’s still a 1% (?) risk of recurrence after mx. I also wonder what’s in the breast tissue - is it ducts and lobules or connective tissue? I seem to have more questions than you do, sorry that wasn’t very helpful…
I’m sure someone will know the answers!

hi i havent got a clue, it feels like part of my original breast, i am definately going to question it again,

i thought the idea was to remove everything to try to prevent re-occurence
