Returning hair issues!!!

Returning hair issues!!!

Returning hair issues!!! Hi ladies,
We are all so excited when our brand new little tufts of hair start to reappear.
Our noses dont run anymore…
We can have a pee without dripping everywhere…
We can remember what shampoo is for (so proud to wash my little sprigs of grey hair)
BUT
Have any of you noticed a spreading of pale downy hair on their face. I can feel it and see it in the sunlight.
I there anyone who can suggest a remedy.
I dont know whether I now prefer the bald look!!

Glad Not Just Me !! Hi Sue

Boots Facial Hair Removing Cream worked for me!! I

It’s horrible is’nt it !

P.S Send someone else to buy it (I DID) ha!

Good Luck Janet xx

me too!!! Yep, I also have this problem. I’m not too keen on using hair removing cream incase it makes the problem worse. I don’t want stubble!!!
Janet, did hair removing cream get rid of the hair for good?

HAIR today gone tomorrow !! Hi Lisa
I was not to keen on using it at first but could not live with looking like a monkey!! The cream was o.k used it a few times now but things seemed to have calmed down I think things just went wild when chemo finished. You don’t get stubble (only if you shave it off)

Good Luck (the cream was on buy one get one free in boots last time I bought it)

Hi,
I think it’s a side effect of Tamoxifen. I got it but it didn’t last too long.
It went away on its own in a matter of weeks.
Kelley

yeah me too

when the sun shines you can see loads of facial hair,
its fair but theres loads of it ,
i’m begining to think i’m turning into a wearwolf !! after finishing chemo a couple of weeks ago.

i’ve not done anything about my beard or sideburns yet
however i have waxed my top lip with a natural bees wax
from superdrug and its sooooo much better.

regrowth pattern I read in Kate Carr’s book that her eyelashes and eyebrows grew back very thick initially - then settled down again.

My theory is … we must have lost fine hairs everywhere, including the face, and the problem after chemo is all hair starts growing back simultaneously. Normally there would be a continual turnover of old hairs dropping out and taking a few weeks to regrow, but after chemo all hair is brand new, so nothing is dropping out and the overall effect is really thick growth for however long it takes for the follicles to restablish a normal, random pattern.

So hang on in there - it may take a few months, but should settle down. Least that’s what I’ m hoping (just revving up for my last chemo).

it goes I too had the hairy face werewolf look but now, six months after last chemo, I am so pleased to say that it has totally disappeared! I know of others who had it too and they are all OK now.

Facial hair for me too! Yes I noticed (especially in sunlight) the blonde downy hair on my cheeks and jawline! I also used Boots Facial Hair Remover. It’s not strong and found I had to leave it on for longer than the stated 5-7 mins. I’ve done it twice now since December so it seems to last quite a while. Is anyone back to using hair colours yet? I’m only using Movida (ammonia free) colour as I’ve been told by my Onc Nurse this is safe to use. Can’t wait to get back to my normal texture, it’s still a bit spongy -looking and wavy!

Hair Colours Hi Bev

My hair came back very soft but also GREY but as time goes on it seems to be returning to its normal colour so as yet I have stayed clear of hair colours. Going for my second hair cut tomorrow. Also my facial hair is going to.

whopee !!! Janet xx

Hello Sue

I had the werewolf effect too - it was terrifying. Long pale downy hair all over my face, even above the eyebrows and also darker hair that was a bit like side-burns.

Thankfully I saw an earlier thread on here that said it’s only temporary and it was. It was gone in a matter of a few weeks and went gradually. I’m now back to the normal middle-aged light fluff that most of us get.

While it was a problem I trimmed it back with scissors to a shorter length and it looked OK and wasn’t stubbly.

Please dont worry about it as it will soon go.

Love,
Janice.

For the werewolf effect try some facepacks!

The downy hair seems to be easy to remove, I remember saying last year if you put a light behind me I would look like I had a mane!

I tried a Superdrug facepack and a lot of the hair came away so I tried another a few days later, I didnt want to go as far as using hair removal cream and this did work!!

It does go after a month or so!

Thanks Ladies I do love this site.
We can be honest and divulge information we would not even dare tell our family!!
Have tried the face pack and it did seem to work. Still a little furry but an improvement.
I have dyed my returning eyebrows and eyelashes with the diy kit from chemist and whilst I had a bit left I uses the brush in streaks through my little tufts of grey hair - it produced a great effect!! We learn to be very inventive.
Thanks for all your replies
