Review

Hi all,
I have to have a review with my oncologist, before my second lot of chemo, is this normal?? Is it to check to see if i have had any side affects etc?..just curious…thanks

Hi KB
Yes, I had a review before each chemo. Cos I have to travel I had to have bloods done then wait for results! see onc and if all ok went through for chemo. Some have bloods done the day before, seems to depend on where you are and how far you have to travel.

Hi,
Agree with L4W. I used to have bloods taken on Monday & chemo Tuesday. For the first few cycles I saw my onc before being okayed to go through for chemo. Usually had to wait a little bit for chemo to be made up and brought over to the unit - the unit would ring across to say it was going ahead & then they make up the chemo and associated drugs (iv steroids/anti-sickness) as doses are specific to you.
After a few sessions who I saw tended to alternate between onc and nurse specialist in the chemo unit but I always saw one or the other. Onc was always there if I needed to see her.
Good luck,
S

Hi, thanks ladies…well i wont have had the blood test results back in time when i go for my review with onc.when i have my bloods taken i normally have them taken at the GP’s…so my appointment on Monday is at 10.10 at GP’S for bloods, then i see the onc at 11.20, straight after, at the hospital. Maybe it’s just to check that ive had no bad side effcts with chemo etc. I havent been unwell on chemo so with a bit of luck my bloods should be ok…then again you never know…
Did the onc also a examination?

K xx

and yes i also have bloods done the day before…i did for my first lot…

Hi KB
I had a review with my onc prior to chemo 2, purely in order to manage any side effects, it’s nothing to worry about. I don’t see my onc now until chemo 5 (next week) in order to consent for radiotherapy and pick up my prescription for Tamoxifen - oh the joy

Thanks Chascat. .i dont like seeing my onc as it is, i dont like him and i would prefer to see a woman. He scares the s??t out of me tbh.
Good luck rads andTamoxifen…i cant have that unfortunately coz i am er- but i can have Herceptin so i guess that out weighs the other lol…x

I don’t like seeing my onc either, although she’s lovely, just find it all too scary, don’t suppose anybody wants their own oncologist do they

Mine made me feel like s??t tbh…lol and he looks like that DR in Hollby city…the American, sexy one…lol…he had the suit on and everything, but not very people friendly…i would like a female one, at least they might be a bit more understanding…xx
