I was dx Dec 2005 with stage 1 small lump no lymph nodes involved. I Still had lumpectomy, full node clearance, chemo and rads.
ABout 2 years ago I started to get a pain underneath my lymph node in my side on a rib. It was tender when Ilay on it and twinged with a burn type pain. ANyway I had an xray and it was all clear so told it was proabably rads damage. Then last year in June I had more rib pain but after bone scan that was all clear.
Anyway for the last week I have got the pain again under my breast in the rib and on my side again under my arm - again all where I had rads. I am worried though because this pain seems worse than before.
I am trying to not get hysterical because I realise I have been scanned for this pain last year and it was OK but It does seem worse than last time and how can I be getting pain from radiotherapy that I had in June 2006??
Woul d be really grateful if anyone could help - has anybody had this?
I have a burning sensation on ribs on rads side. I get lots of twinges too. I finished rads in June 2007. It has got worse recently but I haven’t done anything about it. I must add that I have ‘it’ somewhere different every week. I keep telling myself it’s damage from the rads. Has anyone else got this burning sensation, and the twinges? Hope we get some replies!! Well I saw my onc yesterday for a check up and mentioned my rib pain. He examined me and said he could find nothing to concern him so I asked him what he thought it was. He said either rads pain ( 3.5 years later) or coming from the arthritis in in my spine which is at the same level.
He said that I had a bone scan when I had it before 2 years ago which was clear but did find arthritis and did not even suggest any type of xray.
He is a consultant at the country’s leading cancer hospital so I keep telling myself he must be right. However because he didn’t scan me I am still worried.
DO you think they only suggest a scan if they find something not right when they examine you?
I thought I would not be anxious today but I Still am.
I’ve had pain in my ribs under my right breast and going round & up into my shoulder for the last 10 days, but when I got up this morning it had completely gone. I have arthritis (which is nothing to do with breast cancer as I had it long before) which just seems to move around my body lodging in different places - knees, wrists, fingers etc etc and then moving on. So that & possible rads pain could be the problem. I take Glucosamine & MSM & Omega 3 & I can’t say it seems to do all that much for me, but my GP says it might be far worse if I wasn’t taking it!
