Ribociclib issues

Hi, I’m currently in hospital on 3rd day. Since weekend, I’ve had a slight temp of 37.8 to 38.2, aches and very watery diarrhoea. Hospital have done sepsis screen as I’mon ribociclib, as well as stool, urine samples, viral swabs and blood tests. Blood counts are good. Creatine and crp were elevated.

I haven’t seen an oncologist. Dr thinks i have food poisoning, but I’m not so sure. No-one in family is ill, and I have a full appetite. Dr says I have AKI stage 1. They’ve given me antibiotics, and I have had five 1-litre bags of IV saline.

Ribociclib can cause AKI and diarrhoea too. Could my dehydration cause the temperature? I feel a bit like there’s a chicken and egg situation…has ribociclib caused this?

Any advice on what to ask or suggest here welcome.

Sweet Jesus, when are you going to get a break? I can’t help with the clinical side of it and can only come up with. what sounds like, platitudes but honestly I have everything crossed that this is sorted quickly and you get home soon.

Thanks @Tigress. You wouldn’t think from my last 2 years that I was an active, full time working, mum to 3 in her 40s! Hope i get home tonight.

Hi bluesatsuma,

It sounds as though you are having a difficult time at the moment needing to be admitted to hospital.

It’s not possible for us to say what is causing this but it sounds as though you are having appropriate investigations with a sepsis screen. Ribociclib may cause the symptoms you describe either directly or as a result of its effects on your immune system. You could consider letting your treatment team know what is happening, if they haven’t already been contacted. They can offer advice on your symptoms and what might help manage them.

We would agree with @tigress when she says we hope this is sorted quickly and you get home soon.
