@swk1981 Hi, your post caught my interest. In your post, your consultant advised: "Yours is 8/8 for Estrogen and that’s amazing news!” What does that mean? I am also ER/PR positive, HER2 negative and I also have lymph node involvement. Thanks!
@Arl - thanks for sharing such wonderful and encouraging news - congrats - you are still here after 13 years. May you live a long and healthy life. xoxo
@tessandmeggie24
It is very daunting isn’t it & it’s so much to process when being told that it is cancer. You’re so right we have to stay positive & like you say medicine has come on so much over the years so that’s good . Take care & I hope your treatment goes well x
It means that it will respond well to the hormone therapy .
Hi I had an invasive carcinoma in my right breast which was oestrogen positive but HER2 negative, they also found dcis in my left breast. I had a double mastectomy with a sentinel node biopsy (4 on each side) which showed no involvement and they removed all cancer with clear margins so no chemo or radiotherapy needed. I am taking Tamoxifen for the next 5 years. I’m 7 weeks post op and feeling almost normal lol. Sending lots of love x
@cal
Thankyou for sharing your journey with me. This all sounds like treatment went really well & im so pleased you are starting to feel more like yourself again . All the best for your future x
Sorry you have joined us select group of people with this cancer…but try not to worry about the waiting time for your op. I was started on Letrozole straight away and my consultant said that it would slow down any spread while waiting for my mastectomy. I was diagnosed on 31st October and operated on 19th December. In that time one of my lymph nodes went from being positive to being negative so the drugs obviously worked. Good luck with your treatment

Hi shelbylou81
Same diagnosis here, but on the other side. I had a lumpectomy and SLNB (4 removed) seven weeks after diagnosis. The main tumour was Grade 2 but further Grade 1 tumours and DCIS were also removed in surgery. Thankfully margins and all nodes clear. I was fortunate and recovery from surgery for me was really straightforward, totally back to normal after a couple of weeks. I’m due to have 5 days of radiotherapy soon and just started Tamoxifen for 5 years (so far so good). I was told all along that chemotherapy would have been given if the results showed a higher grade and/or anything found in lymph nodes but feel fortunate that this has not been needed. Honestly, none of the tests or surgery have been anywhere near as bad as the waiting stage.
Hope everything goes well for you. Best of luck. x
Hi, that was exactly the same diagnosis as I had. I’ve had a lumpectomy & 4 lymph nodes removed, an excision & all margins clear. I’ve been prescribed Tamoxifen, but haven’t started taking g them yet as I’m not keen. I had my planning CT today & start 5 radiotherapy sessions next week. I feel I have been fortunate so far as I’ve had no problems with the surgery or after, just have to wait & see how the radiotherapy sessions affect me, but only having 5 means I am low risk of recurrence, but will half expect a return.
Hi i was told my results invasive on right breast 5 lymph nodes as had ct scan it hasnt spread any further. There is a question mark on my kidney but theyre not worried as looks like a cyst. Its stage 2/3 with a grade 3. Waiting for her2 results, im booked in on 22 july for masectomy my choice, and then chemo, good luck with your treatment sending love and positivity x
I’m sorry to hear about what you are going through. Please know that we are hear for you to talk to and to feel accepted. Mine: left | postmenopausal | ER+ | HER2- | Invasive ductal carcinoma | was grade 3 | some lymphnodes. Had A/C Taxol chemo treatments initially which worked eliminating cancer in lymphnodes but now have some tingling on bottom of feet. I did not have the surgery and was giving Aromatase aka estrogen inhibitor. It quit working eventually because breast cancer mutates. Now with a fungating tumor since April 2024 I am on 600 mg Kisqali (no side effects) and Fulvestrant injections. Might do radiation on the tumor next. Medical paper stated it worked well on fungating tumor. Will have surgery after it is under control. I wish you the best. Go to OSU cancer center for Kisqali.
Hi, i was diagnosed with the same in january, had lumpectomy and sln in march. Put on letrozole in april and had 5 days of radiotherapy in june. I have been fine, lumpectomy healed ok with no problems. On week 3 after radiotherapy and just a little soreness and a couple of like someone sticking a pin in my breast. Not much tiredness. I was put on letrozole as i am 68 so been through the menopause. Now just found out i have osteoporosis
Hi @swk1981, I hope you are as well as can be.
I’ve been trawling the forum, trying to look for answers/reassurances.
I was diagnosed on 15th August with stage three, grade 2, cancer in nodes- left side, her2 neg, hormone positive. I have been completely bewildered and am terrified. I haven’t started any treatments. I have CT scan tomorrow and bone scan on 9th September.
Since my initial biopsy on 2nd August, I’ve been very aware of pain in my left shoulder which sometimes goes down my arm. I have also felt other joint pain in thumbs and other parts of my body at times. I also have discomfort in my upper right abdomen and I am absolutely terrified incase cancer has spread to my liver. I can’t stop worrying about it. The pain in abdomen comes and goes but it’s definitely there (not my imagination).
I just noticed your post with the similarities in diagnosis. I know everyone is different but I’m just wondering if you had discomfort anywhere else?
I have three children- 15, 14 and 10. They are my world and I am theirs so I don’t want to be going anywhere. I dread my scans. No idea what treatment will happen xo
Hi, I had constant shoulder pain and into my sternum following my breast biopsy… was fobbed off by bread nurses twice without examining my breast, it was only when I had an ultrasound to insert the guide wire on the day of my lumpectomy that the cause was a large haematoma from the biopsy. I too had convinced myself of all sorts in those 4 weeks. I wish I had pushed to be examined it would have saved a lot of anxiety. I’m not sure if this helps you x
Wow- thank you! I did mention it to nurses and consultant. They said it could be from the position during biopsy or arthritis etc. I felt no discomfort in my position at all so I don’t think that’s it. I’m praying it’s something simple, stress or such likes. I’m really in a panic about the pain on my upper right abdomen. It’s by no means unbearable, I’m just very aware of it. I’ve been trying to tell myself that if it is a cancer symptom, it can’t just start following a biopsy but I guess I just don’t know! I had some bruising following the initial biopsy which was an ultrasound one. Then on 22nd I had mammogram biopsy and the bruising is absolutely awful, my whole boob has been blue! Xo
Sorry Sam,
I only just saw this. I had/have insane discomfort which started with the biopsy and continued after the mastectomy and node clearance.
Stress = inflammation and you will NEVER be as stressed as you are right now. I went into my CT with thoracic pain which I’d had for months before my diagnosis so I was convinced I had it in my bones but I didn’t. I have had a further scan because I had upper right abdominal pain. Nope. Not cancer. The paranoia doesn’t go but you learn to live with it. It’s so very hard though. If your abdominal pain started after biopsy, I’d be guessing at psychosomatic or biopsy hit a nerve (which explains your arm pain) - nerve pain referred to shoulder - shoulder discomfort referred to ribs - rib pain caused inflammation between ribs - inflammation between ribs hits you worst in your upper right and left abdomen. After mastectomy, I still have this because chemo causes inactivity and compounds the issue. Then radio makes it even worse. It does all get easier though. I promise you. In 8/9 months, you’ll be a different person with a different outlook on things but you’ll be hard as nails, even when you feel weak. You’ll surprise yourself in a good way. It’s a bloody brutal journey though but not one without gifts. There are a LOT of gifts along the way if you look for them.
How did your scans go? X
Hi My scans haven’t shown any sign of spread so I’m really relieved about that!
I still have the discomfort in upper right abdomen. The cancer and sore shoulder is on my left side though so I’m not sure what is going on.
Consultant says I will get surgery within four weeks, left side mastectomy and node clearance. He says he will do a bit of lifting on my right side but that’s purely to help me look more even!
Life doesn’t stop and I’m stressed about other things but knowing that all this is coming (and at same time not knowing how bad it will feel) means my stress levels are through the roof!
Thank you for your message, helps me to feel that my paranoia is normal. How are you getting on? Xo
Great news that your scan was clear! Woohoo! I’d expect it’s from stress as your shoulders will be up around your ears right now! If you’re struggling with anxiety, your GP should give you some Diazepam. I’ve had to use it on and off at times to just take the edge off the panic.
Sore shoulder is very likely from the biopsy!
Are they reconstructing at the same time since you’re likely having radiotherapy if it’s in your lymph nodes?
At some point your entire focus will be on the cancer so try and ask for help now to sort the other things that are worrying you. You have to submit to the treatment in order to recover well and to cope with chemo. Chemo will leave you no choice but to submit. I know it’s hard but try hard to give yourself what you need right now xx
