Hello There
I’m new to this forum - I had a mx this time last year followed by chemo and radiotherapy. Since then it’s been discovered that I have the BRCA 2 gene fault so had my ovaries removed a few weeks ago and am booked into have risk reducing maestectomy on my right breast and recostruction using back flap on both breasts in January. i’d like to hear from anyone who has had or is due to have the same procedure. I’d especially like to hear from anyone who has had the same operation recently to know how they dealt with it. I live in Oxfordshire.
Hi
Welcome to the forum.I also had a mastectomy last year and went through genetic testing. They could not identify a faulty gene but given my family history could not rule it out either and so supported my decision to have the healthy one removed.
I had my prophylactic mastectomy and recon to both sides done on 8th December.I did not have the same procedure as mine was just beckers implants which they will expand over time.
I am still in quite a lot of pain/discomfort but am only 2 weeks out of the op so that is to be expected. The worst thing for me is the 2 ports that they put in sit right on the bra line and I have yet to find a comfy bra.
I guess things will be different for you as you are having a different procedure but just wanted to say Hi and good luck.I am not far from you in Northamptonshire.
Hope it goes well and hopefully someone will be along soon that has had that done and can advise you more.

Hi,
Just noticed this thread. I am in the same position, and had a left mx last year, and am booked in for an LD recon, with right mx and immediate recon. Don’t know if you have had surgery yet Clare. I hope it has gone/ goes well. I’d be very interested in hearing how you get on. My surgery is planned for the end of Feb.
Tracy, I hope you are feeling a little more comfortable, and have found a good bra. I thought bra shopping was difficult before all this- how wrong was I?! I must have spent a small fortune recently - and am about to change size and shape all over again!
All the best,
Tracey
