sage for hot flushes

I was recommended sage by my onc. at last visit 3 weeks ago. Starting taking it, but it recommends taking, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening, seemed to be quite a high dose but i went with it. It has helped the hot flushes a lot but i started bleeding a couple of days ago. Now i’m worried it’s interfering with tamoxifen as the only other time i bleed is when i don;t take the tamoxifen. I have come off it for now, but it is a shame as it did seem to be helping.
Anyone else had similar problems.
Marg

Hello Marg

If you’re on Tamoxifen then you must be Hormone receptor positive. I may be wrong but I think that sage contains phyto oestrogens which we need to avoid if we’re hormone positive so I don’t believe you should be taking it anyway.

Hi Marg,

My sister in law swears by using sage to counter her hot flushes - but she did start having periods again !
