HI I had a mx last november and all lymph nodes removed as it had spread to 12 out of 22 nodes,
I has a skin stretching expander put in and have had 4 top ups of saline,I asked for no more expansions as i found it very umcomfortable,almost like carrying a brick round on my chest.
Has anyone else got an expander in which they find uncomfortable,Ihave developed a twitch which i have to do to relieve it and also still have a swelling on the side of the mx site.
Since having rads it is worse and i find it diff to wear a bra.Ihave asked surgeon and BCnurse about it and they say its normal.
Roll on recon which I think will be about 6 months.

I’ve had an expander implant in since MX at the end of January - i too have found it extremely uncomfortable. It now has approx 500mls in and is considered to be full. (34B) I’m now on the waiting list to have it changed over to the permanent silicone implant.
I’ve been very surprised by how uncomfortable it is and the fact that neither the plastic surgeon or the BCN discussed this beforehand and yes i agree with you seems to passed off as "normal "
It is indeed like having a brick on your chest. I haven’t had rads so can’t comment.

Thanks for replying,the Bc nurse told me its normal to have this discomfort,if I would have known I would never have had it put in,my pc told me that I will have to have more fills to get me to a 34c-normally a 36dd but it suits me having a reduction,hope you dont have long to wait for your op-Icant wait for mine.
