I thought I would just update everyone on my scan results which are a bit of a mixed bag apparently my left lung is looking slightly better this is from the lymphangitis that I have been having my Taxotere for. My liver mets havn’t changed and my stomach looks ok. (they were a bit vague on this) The fluid has reduced in the pleural cavity in my lungs.
BUT (there is always a but) it now looks as if I have something lurking in my right lung now they are not sure if it is an infection or the cancer ( the same as in left lung) So I am having 2 more Taxotere had one yesterday next in 3 weeks then they are doing another scan. I may have to change to another chemo if the grey patch hasn’t gone.
So I am a bit fed up and a bit worried I don’t like this thing lurking in my lungs its scary. The taxotere is really affecting my feeling in my finger tips now have trouble typing and hanging out washing etc. But I suppose there isn’t much I can do about that.

Sorry you have new lung worries, Caroline and I do hope the Tax sorts them out for you. At least everything else looks stable or better on the plus side. I am not sure if exercising your fingers (sure I’ve read it on this forum somewhere) may help with the peripheral neuropathy? Maybe someone in the know will come back on this one.

Hi Caroline
It’s never straightforward is it? Glad to hear that the original tumours are behaving themselves but can understand why you are worried about the potential new area.
I don’t know about exercise for peripheral neuropathy though suspect it may help. I had p n when I was on taxol in 2007 and never regained full feeling before starting on xeloda. It has gradually been getting worse in fingers and feet but what I do find has helped is acupuncture. Went for 10 sessions on the NHS last year and she taught me to “self needle” so now give myself acupuncture every 10 days or so. Keeps the neuropathy in the toes only whereas it creeps back into my soles otherwise. Can only do my feet (needles go into my feet and legs) because of my lymphoedema. The physio who taught me, said it helped some but not all people and you should get some benefit (if you are going to get any) within 3 sessions. Worth a try??

Well I hope my post doenst appear twice so i think i will keep this one shorter, was merrily typing away and then it disappeared.
I am sorry it might be a slightly mixed bag, I hope that the right lung turns out to be nothing. You sound like you are at a good place as they are keeping on top of this and scanning again soon. it is scary when your mind gos spinning, but its good that they are not throwing out the taxotere too early when it may be nothing.

It was a mixed bag of results for you. So glad you’ve got the pain side sorted - that upset me to think you had so much pain that was not controlled.I think it’s scary wherever your secondaries are but to have to keep waiting for more scans and results is the pits. I hope there is an innocent reason for this shadow.
Brave you having more taxotere!!! I got peripheral neuropathy on my first time of having taxotere and so using my fingers are hard and can be painful but then I’m still here. They did reduce my dose though and the results were the same.
Good news about the liver - i think - just cling onto the good bits I think.
All the best
Kate
Hi,
it was me that posted re finger and toes exercises it has helped me.
Do ‘good toes naughty toes’ i.e. point toes down and then up, you may get cramp but the more you do it the more supple yor toes become. For fingers with both hands start with index finger and touch tip of thumb and do each finger to little finger and back again. My fingers have really suffered with tax but this has helped me so good luck.
I also hope that there is an innocent reason for shadow on lung could it be due to radio therapy? That is what they said mine was.
Love Debsxxx
thanks Debs I will try the exercises although my toes don’t seem to be affected at the moment just my fingers.
The thing in my lung can’t be radiotherapy because I have never had any. It has been my lungs that have caused my problems right from my first dx it just seems to be my problem area. Anyway still got several chemos to try if Taxotere doesn’t do the trick.
Thanks everyone
Carolinexx
