Hi all,
To put you all in the picture I am going for an appt. with my onc. tomorrow finally managed to get this appointment, I was told I would have scans every 3 months then if everything was stable for a time then the scans would be every 6 months I was only dx last march with primary and multiple lung mets to both lungs and have been through chemo, surgery, and radiotherapy the last of which only finished in Jan this year, so obviously I am anxious to have a scan too see whether or not the radiotherapy had any effect!! Hopefully seeing my onc tomorrow will just be for me too say yes I want a CT scan.
Can anyone offer any words of wisdom or any thoughts about what else I should ask him? only my brain is not what it used to be (thanks chemo) and I get so confused, I write everything down but my mind has gone blank as too what too ask him, obviously I want to know whats going on with my lungs the last ct scan was in Oct last year, other than that anybody got any words of wisdom. Any advice would be most appreciated.

just reading your post i to have multiple lungs mets dx 10 weeks ago, and my first scan today and results on monday hoping good news, my onc told me the same thing will have scan every three months, and i think if they are good results they leave the scans or as long as six months, hoping i the same as you, i am still having chemo i think another eight to go.all the best to you.

Thank you for responding and wishing you all the best for your chemo and treatments, got everything crossed that your results are good like mine have been, my mets are tiny and stable as of the last scan back in Oct last year, like I said in my post I was initially told scan every 3 months then every 6 months thereafter, but its only just been a year since I was dx and I have only just finished rads in January this year my last scan was Oct last year, so at the latest really I think a scan should of been done at the end of feb we are now 6 months down the line and if I had not of hassled my GP who then hassled my Onc who then phoned the oncs secretary I would not of been going to my appt tomorrow. Basically just one big hassle!! and I still don’t have an appointment date for the actual CT scan!! End of rant

yeah i can understand that like you said ask for one when you see him or her, my onc is very on top of things but she did not seem to concern of the lung mets at first in fact i at to ask her when i went for the results, but apart from that she is a very good onc, i was dx in sept 2010 with ibc. hope you get your scan soon, do you feel well in youself.

Thanks for asking, yes I do feel well I have been having herceptin as I am HER2+ this will continue for as long as it works, and am taking tamoxifen for at least 5 years cause mines ER+ but PR-. Are you on herceptin? if you are ER+ they will give you tamoxifen same as me once all the initial chemo’s etc are done. My onc is brilliant BUT over this scan thing he seems to be dragging his feet! I mean its not like I’m that demanding I hardly ever phone or ask questions I know they are over run with this terrible disease, and I dont want to become a nuisance but I need to know for my own peace of mind.
I also take quite a lot of supplements and I drink about a pint of fresh organic green veg/fruit juice a day, if your interested here’s some links to my blog site explaining about the juicing and what supplements I take, although please remember that I have finished my chemo etc and your right in the middle of yours so don’t make any changes yet save it for when you have finished chemo also if you do make sure you tell your onc.

So went to the hospital today for an appointment with my onc. (ended up seeing a registrar after waiting for an hour!) he was indian and I don’t want to sound like I’m a racist because I’m not, but I didn’t understand his english, I had to keep asking him to repeat himself, he was a very nice man BUT! Anyway, they are going to do a CT scan in the next few weeks finally getting somewhere.
