Hi everyone I haven’t posted for sometime although I do pop in sometimes to see what’s happening. I’m looking for some advice before I see my onc first thing on Tuesday. I was diagnosed with bone secondaries in April last year in my lumbar spine. Unfortunately this was really quickly after completing treatment for my primary. I had radiotherapy and was then prescribed letrozole and bondronat. Things have been stable since then and scans have shown no change at all. My last scan has shown that although the cancer remains within the same vertebraes it has gotten significantly bigger. I am also in more pain and have upped my intake of oxynorm. I also have nerve pain down my leg and foot which is making me limp a bit. I also have numerous lumps which appear to be cysts according to the radiologist which have appeared on the CT
I see the onc on Tuesday to discuss all this and wonder if people could give me their views/ experiences about when to change drugs. I know that you don’t want to go through drugs to quickly but by the same token it feels wrong to stay on a drug that is no longer stopping the cancers growth. I know i should be happy that it’s still in the same vertebraes but I am nervous that this is just the start of further progression.
Any help/advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Hi fuzzyface42
Whilst you wait for the other forum users to reply with their experiences and advice you may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the trained members of staff on the BCC helpline. Here you can share your feelings and concerns with someone who will offer you a listening ear as well as support and information.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes Sam (BCC Facilitator)
Bumping this up in the hope that someone can help as i see the oncologist tomorrow. Please xx
Hi fuzzyface
Can I suggest you repost this comment in the thread titled “Bone mets - please join in”? You’ll find it in the living with secondaries section. There are loads of ladies with bone mets experience that read the thread, so hopefully one of them can help you.

Hi Lesley
Hope you get on ok with your onc appointment today.
I just noticed you mention leg pain from tumours in your lumbar spine, may i ask where the pain is? Im suffering quite badly on and off with pain in my front of my right leg down the right side and up to the hip - i have previously had tumours in L3 and L4 and they were stable but now im wondering if they aren! im on letrozole n ibandronat too. but letrozole is a test for me as previous hormone tabs failed so spent a year on capcitabane chemo and been on letrozole since june so am wondering if my pain means its not controllin it!
anyway sorry to ramble! i hope your onc gives you helpful advice.
xx
